Bianca Catbagan is a Filipino director & photographer based in Los Angeles. Her films are visually driven and place emphasis on the faces and stories of women and those who are marginalized. Her screenplay, "2AM in Tokyo," was selected for the Torino Film Lab's Next Feature program. She has participated in prestigious programs such as the CHANEL X Busan International Film Festival's Asian Film Academy and the Reykjavik International Film Festival's Talent Lab and was a Top 10 Finalist of the 2024 New Voices Filmmaker Grant. Her films have screened at Inside Out, Newport Beach Film Festival, Vancouver Queer Film Festival, GAZE International LGBTQIA Film Festival, Fringe Queer Film & Arts Festival, Mix CPH, among others. When she is not directing, she works as a unit stills photographer. She received her MFA in Directing and Screenwriting from Columbia University.
As a photographer, Bianca’s films are visually driven and place emphasis on the faces and stories of women. Her love for the image has brought her behind the scenes of films, fashion shows, and music festivals, working at different events like New York Fashion Week, Philippine Fashion Week, The Governors Ball Music Festival, and Life is Beautiful Music Festival. Her work has been featured in New York Times Life & Arts China, Vogue Philippines, Purveyr, Schön! Magazine, and Variety. She shoots on both film and digital but prefers her Canon AE-1.
